Mango Sago with Pomelo 杨枝甘露 - AFF HK Macau Desserts #1

Mango Sago Pomelo is a popular dessert from Hong Kong.

It is a dessert that is made of mango, tapioca or sago pearls, pomelo arils, coconut milk and evaporated milk or cream.

And usually, pomelos are one of the quintessential fruits for Chinese New Year because the name sound prosperous. Besides eating it fresh, you can turn it into this dessert. It'll be a good way to serve this fruit during this hot hot weather, or maybe for next year's celebration :)

by WendyinKK Serves 4-6

Mango Smoothie
300gm mango
3 Tbsp sugar
1/2 cup water
1 cup ice

Creamy Sago
3 Tbsp small sago pearls/tapioca pearls
1/2 cup coconut milk
1/4 cup dairy cream (35% fat)

Toppings
1 heaped cup mango cubes
1 heaped cup of pomelo arils

1. Bring a saucepan of water to boil. Put in sago pearls and let it  simmer until it turns totally transparent. Strain the pearls and let it  run under running water for a few minutes to wash away excess starch. Mix with coconut milk and cream. Keep chilled.
2. Blend the mango flesh with sugar, water and ice to form mango smoothie. Keep in freezer.
3. To assemble. Layer mango smoothie,  creamy sago, mango cubes  and pomelo arils according to your preference. Or you can mix everything up.
